Check 4.2 · Brand identity

Do your external profiles agree on who you are?

External profiles match the brand. Engines merge an identity from the site and its profiles.

What the check looks at

The check follows every sameAs link and compares what it finds with your Organization: does the page resolve, does it carry the same name, does the handle look like yours. Dead or mismatched profiles fragment the identity engines try to consolidate.

Why it matters

Engines merge an identity from the site and its profiles. A LinkedIn page under a former name, a dead Crunchbase link, a Twitter handle that belongs to someone else — each is a vote that you are two companies, or none.

How to see it on your own site

Open each sameAs link. Does it load? Is it the same name and logo? Is the website on the profile your domain?

How to fix it

  • Fix or remove dead links.
  • Align the name across profiles with the name on the site.
  • Put your domain on every profile — the engines read the back-link too.

What the agent does: the agent lists which profiles resolve and which do not match; the profiles themselves are on other sites.

Questions people ask

Is a profile with a slightly different name a problem?

A legal name against a brand name is fine if both are declared (name and legalName). A different brand is a mismatch.
